in Schools

What checks do you do on your mentors?

Our mentors are DBS checked. We take up references and ensure they have the right to volunteer in the UK. We do not just accept anyone who applies and only accept mentors that we feel would work appropriately in schools.

What training do they receive?

Our training compromises of 4 main elements.

  1. What is mentoring?
  2. The mentoring cycle
  3. Communication skills
  4. Safeguarding and Boundaries

Our training is based on resources used by the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation.

Is there a cost?

No, CROPS Mentoring runs at no cost to the school. As a charity donations are always welcome but there is no expectation or obligation.

Can I talk further with someone about this?

Yes, please email Chris Wild on chris.wild@crops.org.uk and he will arrange to meet you and chat further.
